Arts Council DYCP in-depth: The journey to developing your creative practice.
Developing Your Creative Practice is Arts Council England’s funding programme to support the development of independent cultural and creative practitioners. Individuals can apply for £2,000 to £10,000 to take a dedicated period of time to focus on their own cultural and creative development to take them to the next stage in their practice. This could be for a period of research, time to create new work, travel (including international working), training, developing future ideas, networking, or mentoring. DYCP encourages development by enabling people to innovate and take creative risks, work in new ways, and to eventually reach new audiences. DYCP operates quarterly and the next round (#15) opens on Tue 6 Sep 2022.
At this in-depth small group session, Tamsin Drury of hÅb explores an approach to DYCP; the journey you need to show you will be taking; and the differences between DYCP & NLPG* (National Lottery Project Grants). She’ll be joined by guest artists Kelly Munro-Fawcett, Megan Marie Griffith & Tania Camara, who’ve each successfully applied to DYCP, to talk about their approach — and there will be plenty of time for questions.
While we can’t go into individual applications in depth, if you are unsure whether your idea fits DYCP or NLPG better we will invite a number of examples — so come with a one liner about it and we’ll attempt to point you in the right direction.
We are not Arts Council England, so any guidance is our opinion only and there are things we won’t be able to answer.
This is also not an ACE talk-through, and we will not be looking in detail at Grantium, so for maximum benefit we suggest you familiarise yourselves with the guidance for DYCP in advance at www.artscouncil.org.uk/sites/default/files/download-file/DYCP_how_to_apply_300322_0.pdf
The session takes place on Zoom from 12noon on Wednesday 3 August, and will last approximately 2 hours to allow for questions.
THIS SESSION IS NOW FULLY BOOKED — WE AIM TO RECORD IT AND SHARE ON YOU TUBE AFTERWARDS.
It’s free and open to all, you’ll need to book your place in advance below as there is a limited capacity.
If you have any access issues, please let us know through the booking form and we’ll do all we can to help.
The session will be captioned, if you require BSL please book by 25 July so we can source an interpreter.

Greater Manchester Independent Artist Initiative 21 Q&A for Artists
Over the past few months, a range of Greater Manchester's Arts & Cultural Organisations have been exploring ways that they can support independent artists and companies in our city region to develop and share their work in 2021 as the sector, hopefully, starts to emerge from the current COVID-19 restrictions.
One of those ways is by supporting projects that need resources: money, mentorship, technical support, marketing, space and much more...
